Summer Course Update (Week 3 - Monday 23rd April, 2012)
On Monday mornings, in addition to the Thai National Anthem and school prayer the students of the new Assumption College English Program join together to proudly sing the Assumption school song, “Glorify Assumption”. This song is very meaningful to all AC students and alumni. It is the ‘web’ that creates unity amongst students of Assumption College and hence it is very important as the new school develops its identity and spirit.
Today was also the final day for Summer Course teachers to introduce themselves to students. The final six teachers for morning introductions were Mr. John Daxton Ward (Year 7 and Year 10 Computers and Home Economics), Mr. Daniel Shugrue (Year 7 and Year 10 Physical Education and Health), Mr. Andrei Androsoff (Year 7 and Year 10 Computers and Home Economics), Dr. Michael Hanford (Year 7 and Year 10 Science and Chemistry), Miss Lawan Phumprasert (Year 7 and Year 10 Thai Language) and Mr. Andrew Forster (Year 7 and Year 10 English).
Following the teacher introductions, the Head of Student Welfare, Master Sompoch Posinsomwong, praised students for their good behavior during the first two weeks of the Summer Course. He commented that no students had broken the school’s rules since the summer course started.
During the afternoon session, Year 1 students practiced the National Anthem and ‘Glorify Assumption’ during Music Activities with Mrs. Sukanya, Miss Suphawadee, Miss Janthira and Mrs. Kanda.
Year 4 students had a Treasure Hunt Activity with Mr. Mike and Mr. Kevin during their afternoon session. The students were separated into groups of four, and had to find the titles of five movies which were hidden along the corridor outside their classrooms. They had so much fun while developing their teamwork skills. The winning team who found the five titles the fastest was Atipat, Sunsun, Anaphat and Phat. Congratulations to all of these students!
The secondary school students in Year 7 and Year 10 classes learnt knowledge through theatre from the film “Hugo” in the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Trinity Building during the afternoon. The students enjoyed the movie and the air-conditioning on a VERY hot day!
